Mt Buller has welcomed a cold blast of winter today, with snow beginning to fall at the resort and sub-zero temperatures and persistent snow forecast for the coming days.
Victoria is facing a series of cold fronts which are bringing icy temperatures, strong winds and heavy snow to the Alps right throughout the week. The snow is the welcome sight for the snowfields, with school holidays set to start this weekend. Snow forecasters are predicting upwards of a metre of snow to fall at Mt Buller in the next seven days.
Marketing & Communications Manager for Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management, Gillian Dobson, is thrilled to see the snow. “Whilst Melbournians will shiver through this week, here at Mt Buller we’re continuing to do our snow dance as these ideal conditions bring us plenty of the white stuff. This fresh dump of snow and chilly temperatures ideal for snowmaking mean we can really start getting the season underway.”
Ms Dobson said the resort is preparing to welcome plenty of school holidaymakers to the resort from this weekend. “Mt Buller is an ideal destination for the school holidays, with plenty happening on and off the slopes to keep everyone busy. With fresh snow and lots to do around the resort throughout the holidays, we’re feeling on top of the world here at Mt Buller!”
