Snow has fallen at Mt Buller this morning, less than six weeks ahead the official start of the 2014 snow season. Residents and staff at the Resort awoke to a beautiful winter wonderland with over 3cm of fresh fluffy snow and temperatures below zero.
Mt Buller is looking forward to what is set to be another busy snow season in 2014, with the Resort putting the finishing touches on a range of upgrades to ensure Mt Buller remains Victoria’s premier alpine resort. New for the 2014 winter season are improvements to Victoria’s largest lift infrastructure with the addition of a new mid load of the Tirol T-Bar, the completion of the automation of snowmaking infrastructure on the Northern side of Bourke Street, as well as refurbishment and facelift to the public day facility formerly known as Cow Camp Plaza.
Director of Marketing, Sales & Business Development for Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management, Amber Gardner, is thrilled at the sight of the first snow fall. “We have already received around 3cms of fresh snow and the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting further falls on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”
“We’re looking forward to what we hope will be a fantastic snow season, and are all doing some serious snow dancing today as the white stuff falls from the sky! We’ve had a busy summer of events and activities and have been focussing on everything winter since the end of the mountain bike season last weekend.”
The 2014 snow season will officially commence on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, June 7-9. A weekend full of events, activities and celebrations is planned, with festivities kicking off in the Village Square on Saturday afternoon and will continue all weekend.
